An exhibition titled "Music of the Times - Xu Hongfei’s World Sculpture Tour to Kunming" will debut in Kunming city of Yunnan province next week. Created by renowned Chinese sculptor Xu Hongfei, the exhibition’s artistic works will offer viewers an opportunity to explore the themes associated with daily life in China.

The exhibition, co-organized by the Yunnan Art Museum and the Guangdong Art Museum,

is not only an outstanding example of cultural and artistic exchanges between Yunnan and Guangdong

provinces but is also a remarkable tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s

Republic of China. From August 1st through to August 20th, life-size sculptures of cheerful and energetic

women displaying different postures and expressions will be put on display in Yunnan. Xu Hongfei, the director of

the Guangzhou Academy of Sculpture, is the brilliant mind behind the exhibition which incorporates works that

deliver a sense of happiness and humor and demonstrate the optimistic attitude that Chinese people hold towards life.

Xu Hongfei Director of the GZ Academy of Sculpture said: " The exhibition in Yunnan,

displaying a total of 120 sculptural works will be the largest in scale of all my touring exhibitions.

"He said:"There are many minority ethnic groups in Yunnan with a wide variety of traditional folk dance

and music customs. Therefore, the exhibition in Yunnan will be themed around music in modern times and

 named 'Music of the Times'."

The female subjects of Xu Hongfei’s sculptures are infused with energy and exuberance.

There is an innocent charm to the sheer joy that they find in the ordinary, a sentiment that the

artist hopes will prove contagious among viewers. His unique sculptural language has allowed him

to embrace overwhelming success, and his touring exhibitions have been featured in many countries and

regions, including France, Australia, Italy, Russia, and Japan.
